Action item: contact Alison Walsh (amwalsh1@uncc.edu) by Friday, August 25th to schedule DegreeWorks training for your department. DegreeWorks is the new degree audit system that will replace CAPP.
While we are all wary (and weary) of new systems, we can count this one as a real improvement! DegreeWorks will be so much easier for advisors, administrators, and–most importantly–students to use to gauge progress toward graduation. DegreeWorks is already available for new and continuing students. It is imperative that all faculty advisors, professional advisors, and department administrators receive training for DegreeWorks and begin using the system.
The Registrar’s Office is available to schedule a training session with your department. They can do a full training session for you, or they can attend your department meeting to provide an introduction to DegreeWorks in as little as 10 minutes. Please contact Alison Walsh (amwalsh1@uncc.edu) if you are interested in scheduling this for your department. Responses are requested before Friday, August 25th.
With this feedback from you, we will better know how many open training sessions are needed–those are tentatively scheduled for mid-late September. Alison is working with Sheila Modesitt (sheila.modesitt@uncc.edu), IT Project Manager in the Registrar’s Office, to coordinate training in CLAS.
