The purpose of this task force is to develop a consensus around the primary structural and cultural challenges to constructive shared governance in the college and actionable, realistic solutions for addressing these obstacles. Faculty participation and faculty voice are critical in preserving teaching and research as the essence of our academic mission. Equally important, faculty engagement is an absolute necessity in leading university involvement in local and global concerns. It is the basis for a culture that embraces innovation and creativity, where ideas are generated both from below and in concert with the administration.
