On October 26, 2007 Dean Nancy Gutierrez appointed a “working group to draft an internationalization plan for the College of Arts and Sciences. This plan will infuse within all areas of the College an awareness of the need to ground our work within an international framework.” The IWG was charged with providing initial baseline data for current internationalization efforts within COAS departments and programs (see Appendices II and III) and with making recommendations regarding the meaning and practice of internationalization within a College of Arts and Sciences. Specific areas within the overall charge included the curriculum, student participation, faculty participation and professional development about internationalization, expanding the numbers of our international students and international faculty, extracurricular activities, and incorporation of the College Internationalization Plan in the College Strategic Plan.
